PET Scan

I kinda figured that I was going to get into trouble if I didn't post my results....

ALL CLEAR! I thank the Good Lord for watching over me.

There are a few rules for the PET scan. I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything other than water for 6 hours before...including gum, breath mints...that sort of stuff. I have to wear loose fitting clothes to be comfortable in the little tube (and I do mean little). AND, I'm not allowed to exercise for 48 hours before.

OK, normally, this would not be an issue. I'm pretty much a slug...which explains why I'm still carrying around that 20lbs from chemo. Well, my PET scan was originally scheduled for one week earlier on a Wednesday morning. That Monday, I decided to take the little ladies to the pool. Our community pool has these great 15 minute breaks where only the adults are allowed in the pool, so I took the opportunity to swim a few laps. DOH! Didn't even occur to me that the PET was so close.

The Imaging Center made me move my appointment. I hate that! I get all worked up before a PET scan, and this just prolonged the agony.

I was explaining it to someone the other day. The very first PET scan was scary, mainly because it was an unknown, but after that, it wasn't too bad for a while. During chemo, we knew we were doing all we could do. Then, when chemo was first over, we pretty much expected good results. But, the further away from chemo I get, the scarier the PETs seem to be.

One time, I had raging headaches for about a week before. This time, I had weird little aches in my neck/throat area that I was convinced were my lymph nodes freaking out. Of course, after the results were in, my mysterious symptoms disappear. That devil sure is a tricky one, working my brain against me like that, huh?

I hope all of you are enjoying your summer. Is your's flying by like our's?
